I was wondering if the new EVGA Nvidia GTX 1080-1070 would be compatible with my Ausus Z87-K motherboard. At the moment I have a EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ for my computer and was planning on upgrading to something better. Also which version of the 1070-1080 would be the best to get (I do not have liquid cooling if that changes anything).

They should be - although you may require a BIOS update. Just ensure you have the latest BIOS before installing.

As for which - other than 'non-reference' (most people don't want the blower style as they run hotter), there's not a whole lot of difference between the manufacturers/models. Some have better coolers, some have higher factory OCs or should allow better OCs, but for real-world use, there's not too much difference between them. Outside of EVGA's FTW (as some have/had VRM overheating issues), I'd opt for whichever has the best clock speed to price ratio.

EVGA line-up isn't recommended even with the latest BIOS update which sets the fan curve to a more aggressive setting. They're reported to have weaker capacitors.

MSI Gaming X, ASUS ROG STRIX, Zotac AMP! Extreme, Palit GameRock Premium, Gigabyte Xtreme however are great.
