Does the ASUS HYPER M.2 X4 Mini Card work with M.2 SATA SSDs?

I have a Sandisk x400 m.2 2280 512GB SATA SSD.

I recently bought the Asus Hyper m.2 x4 mini card.

I was wondering if the Asus card only works with M.2 PCI-E or does it work with M.2 SATA as well? Please help urgent. Thanks!

Yes that one. But my M.2 SATA ssd has both B and M connectors that's why I'm confused whether it would be compatible even though it doesn't say anything there. Is there anyway to confirm?

The specifications state PCI-E SSD only.

to put in a pci-e adapter card i guess

other thing is did you want to put windows on it?

you do realise if thats the case a lot of pcs wont boot from pci-e devices?

though in my opinion m2 is definitely the way forward

to be fair to the op its confusing to most people that there are sata,pci-e,nvme versions

edited--not to mention whether your motherboard if it has a m2 slot can it run one flat out

ie--pci-e x4 since a lot of boards the slots are only x2

I have an m.2 slot. I'm building a new pc and my MOBO is Asus Z170 Deluxe. I did not check carefully and I thought I could run two of those asus cards with 2 m.2 sata ssds on raid 0.

not sure what your idea of cheap is

i am using a sm951 which should be cheaper than the 950 pro i guess though havent checked prices lately

samsung have released new m2 models so prices will probably have changed since i got mine

should point out by the way

you could just get a regular 2.5ssd

i have a m2

a 2.5 850 evo

a ssd raid array

you couldnt tell the difference between them in every day use to be honest a ssd is just so fast any way

its only when you have

1--more than 1 m2

2--a ssd raid array or something as fast

then m2 pci-e x4 drives are more useful--reading/writing from m2 to m2 or m2 to/from ssd raid slaughters a ssd
