Upgrading to Skylake will the ddr4 and cpu be worth?

I'm looking to upgrade from a i7-4790 to a skylake i7-6700k. Which means I need to change my motherboard and get some ddr4 ram rather than ddr3. I am wondering if this is worth it for gaming, streaming, and overall performance. I currently play many graphic intensive games and have a gtx 980ti. But I am just wondering if upgrading these 3 parts is worth the ~$500, or will I notice a difference?

Another small followup question is will I need to wipe my ssd with windows and 2 hdd's with games and software when changing mother boards? Or can I just do a simple swap with the cpu, ram, and mb? Sorry for so many questions but your help is very appreciated.

Doesn't seem worth it really.
