Hi Guys,

Definitely need your help on this one, I'm stumped. I was playing leagues the other night when my computer suddenly turned off. Thinking it might've been a loose connection and with my head in the game, I quickly tighten all connections and turned the computer back on. It turned on for a few seconds and shut right back off. I then smell something burning from the PSU.

I pulled everything off and did not find any blown capacitors on the motherboard and checked the CPU and nothing looked out of the ordinary. I suspected the PSU and ordered a new one.

New PSU came and when I attempt to turn on the computer, no fans nothing, PC will not post. At that point I closely looked over the motherboard and found this behind the CPU slot.

I ordered a new motherboard and made some progress as I definitely now know it isn't the PSU as both old and new PSU will both boot the system however I am getting a "No Display Signal" with everything connected.

Judging by the CPU image, and the inability for my PC to post, my worst fear have started to become clearer. Not only did I lose the motherboard, it looks like I might've lost the CPU as well.

I'm looking at the FX8350 but as we all know, CPU are strictly non refundable and I hate to shell out $150 and not have it fix the problem. Reading over forums, most people state CPU is 90% NOT the issue so I'm hesitant to ordering... Any suggestions?

Did you updated the BIOS on the motherboard?

"To enable AM3+ AMD FX-Series CPU support, please update your motherboard with the most current BIOS found in your motherboard’s download section." -GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P Both Revision1 and R2 require it.
Also that brownish thing on the solders appear looks like corrosion. You might put pc speakers (that go into the motherboard/ PC beepers) to hear beeps. You can find what they mean in google
