both those companies are generally very trustworthy. Honestly just peak at the user reviews from amazon/newegg and if it got 4 and 5 star reviews it should be a safe buy.
Depends on the model! And there are tens of models per manufacturer. AFAIK, Kingston KC300's are good value. I would just recommend getting the best value capacity to price. Drevo X1 are the best value SSDs atm.

Just avoid the Kingston V300s, they're probably the worst performing SSDs on the market after Kingston decided to cheap out on the flash memory after the initial production batch.
