Was playing starcraft 2 and the sound looped and the screen went black with green lines all over. The computer then proceeded to restart on it's own. During the boot up where you get the option to start windows normally/safe mode/etc the green lines persisted. I could not get past the windows logo without it just rebooting. I ended up taking out my 660ti and putting in an older card 240 gt and everything is fine now.

I did notice while I was taking off the 660ti the screw from the graphics card got stuck on my dvi connector.

The 660ti sc was a replacement for a dying 570 gtx I got from evga around 3 years ago.

Is the card just dead or something else happened?

Solution
Doubt it's the PSU then, it's well rated on Tom's PSU Tier List.
Once you got the system going with the old card, did you try putting the 660ti back in?
If the GPU is still whacked, it's likely the culprit, but you would still want to test it in another machine to be sure.

I did have this psu for near 6 years now. I ordered a 1060 gtx. I'll try the 660ti in my brothers comp when I get time. Im trying to hold off for a bit on buying parts because I plan on building a new setup in the spring
