RX480 CrossfireX or GTX 1070 SLI for future?

Hi, everyone. I am planning on building a PC around Christmas time, and I need to make a decision on what GPUs to use. I have seen some benchmarks that show two RX480s hovering in between the GTX1080 and 1070 level, which makes me think I should just go with a 1070, because it is only a bit worse than the RX480s to start, and then in the future when it starts to become weak, I can upgrade to a second 1070.

Solution
A single, more powerful card is a better idea than 2 weaker cards in SLI/Crossfire. This is coming from someone who has a 980Ti in one rig and 2 x R9 Fury's in another.

Whilst many of the games I play regularly actually work well with Crossfire, I still notice that there are plenty that don't work at all/have bad scaling/micro stutter.

If you are in a position to splash the cash on a 1070 or 1080 then just do that instead.
Xfire and SLI sounds very attractive but its not what it seems. Many games do not scale very well with those technologies. You would probably be better off with a single GTX 1070 or 1080.

What resolution are you planning to game at? If the answer is 1080P you really shouldn't need more than a RX480 or a GTX 1060.

I would be gaming at 1080p, but in the future, I am afraid the RX 480 may become obsolete.

I think in the future the 480 will actually perform better.

Future proofing is something that is not very realistic. So many factors and increasing performance demands.
If you want to "future proof" get a 1080.
