A while back, about mid last year probably, I built my own computer for the first time. It took me a while, but I finally got everything hooked up and operational. Computer worked wonderfully after I got everything sorted out, and was running to my expectations. Fast forward to about two months ago, we got hit with a power surge and ended up losing power in the area I live in. This, unfortunately, caused issues with my computer and ultimately it failed to turn back on.

A few nights ago I finished replacing the old parts of my computer and put all new parts in. New motherboard, new power supply, new CPU, new Windows 10, new hard drive for Windows 10. The only things I didn't replace were my RAM and my graphics cards.

The problem arose shortly after installing Windows 10 on the new hard drive. I want to stress that prior to this, everything was fully functional. Mouse was working, keyboard was working, I had video on my monitor, and the computer seemed to be running just fine. After Windows finished installing it got to the information sharing settings, what I would allow to be sent to Microsoft, if my computer could automatically connect to hotspots, etc. Once I finished these I received an error message, though I couldn't read what it was due to the fact that before I could finish reading my computer promptly shut itself down. I waited for a few minutes to see if it would restart, and when it did not I pressed the power button again. Lights came on, fans came to life, and I got video back on my monitor showing that my computer was starting up, mouse and keyboard still working. It showed the usual screens, including the Windows start-up screen with the "thinking" symbol. Then it shut down again without giving me any warnings or messages. I continued this game for about 20 minutes, sometimes getting as far as the original error screen, and sometimes not even past the Windows start screen. After this my mouse and keyboard stopped lighting up when I turned my computer on, and ceased functioning. At the same time I stopped getting video on my monitor. I took my graphics cards out for this entire operation, so I'm really not sure what's going on or what to look at in order to fix the problem.

I did read some old threads about a beep my computer is supposed to make when starting, but I can't recall it ever doing that, even for the first build when it first came to life and was working correctly.

As far as the components I'm using, I have

Intel i5 processor

msi Z97S Krait motherboard

Rosewill Hive Series 850w PSU

8GB RAM

Crucial BC100 SSD

1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

Windows 10 is on the SSD, whereas I store most everything else on the HDD.

I'm really at a loss here, so any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
