I was playing rocket league perfectly fine, when the game randomly froze. I went to task manger, and the sound was still playing and I was able to get back into the game except that I now had about 10 fps when I would normally get 40 - 60. I restarted my computer but every game I try I have 10 - 20 fps. I turned off my computer for a couple hours but I still have this problem. I thought it might be my computer overheating but if that was the case then why would it continue to do this after leaving it off for a couple hours?

My card is a GEFORCE GT 740, and I have a 500W power supply.

I don't know much about computers though, so any help is appreciated!

EDIT: After updating my driver everything seems to be working fine again.

If you think it might have overheated, then it means you don't monitor the temperatures of your CPU when you play, switch the overclocking off and see how it does then. If it works fine, it means that you need a better cooling solution.

My CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100 @ 3.57GHz, mobo is B150 Gaming M3, my PSU is EVGA 500W, and I was overclocking it yes. I had only started to overclock a couple days prior to this which is why i'm thinking it might have overheated.
