So I know no one can predict the future, but based on past experiences with previous cards what can we expect from the release of the 1080 Ti? Currently the 1080 is roughly a £600 graphics card, rumours say the 1080 Ti will cost around $1200 which in my mind gets me thinking over here we'll be looking at around £900-£1000 for the Ti. Is that a good estimation?

When the 980 Ti came out, what happened to the 980? Was there a price drop or did prices remain mostly the same?

I'm in the process of building a concept rig using a GTX 1080, but rumours say that the Ti is just around the corner in January I'm wondering whether to hold out for the Ti, either to see if I can afford the Ti or to whether the 1080 will drop in price.

But if that's unlikely to happen I might just go ahead with my plans and build my rig over the next month.

Any input I'd appreciated.

The Titan X costs $1200, the 1080 Ti would have to be substantially cheaper than that. I think the maximum would be $999, and it's likely to be lower than that.

At the launch of the 980 Ti, the 980 dropped $50. A similar change to the 1080 is certainly possible. Depending on what AMD launches there could be a bigger price drop or none at all. It's really a guessing game at this point.

Thanks. From what I've read the 1080 Ti will be closer to the Titan X and will be the flagship card and possibly the last ever card from the Pascal technology. If the 1080 Ti is going to be a £1000 card and the price drop is going to be minimal I think I'll just get on with it and forget about what will happen in January when the Ti launches. Unless I win the lottery...
