I need to format my drive fast, can I also kill the current format procedure?

I had a problem with my computer and I am going to sell it for the parts.
I started the format procedure through a bootable USB stick drive (Darik's boot and Nuke) but it says it needs 39 hours to finish!
Right now the procedure is at 11.25%. Can I just unplug the laptop and start over? Will it harm the HDD?
What bootable portable app should I use? I have a second laptop, in which I make the usb drive bootable so I do everything through BIOS.

Thank you!

you do realize anyone that buys that hdd can get all information off it ? formatting a hdd does not "remove" any data from being recovered.
not being paranoid here, just saying...

there are some clean wipe applications for your HDD to be properly cleaned.

I use RUFUS to make bootable USB from ISO Windows CD so I can reinstall easily by booting from USB

I know, but with a broken motherboard it won't even boot any content with user interface. And it seems that the throughput was decreasing every minute when I was doing the format. It started with 8 hours and finished at 39 hours. I know what I have done, but there was no way I could erase the files through bios. I just hope I bricked the HDD.

I was hoping for an eraser only through bios, because otherwise the computer would shut down unexpectedly.
