So the Founder's Edition of the GTX 1070 and 1080 are having huge price drops right now going as low as 277 pounds for a 1080 which seems a bit too good to be true. Keep in mind this is on Amazon.co.uk. Is this legit? They are FE versions after all so maybe people are selling them used and branding them as new? The sellers say that they are new GPUs and they have good reviews mostly and pictures from builds they are in. But I am a bit wary of people selling these cards as new as they are sold by retailers I have never heard of. Some of the brands going on sale are EVGA and Asus FE GTX 1080 and 1070's. What do you guys think? Has anyone seen these discounts? I would love to snatch up a GTX 1080 while the sales are on because I have a 970 and want to do 1440p and VR. I would even pick up a 4k monitor if the 1080 sales are legit. Any thoughts on the matter? Would it matter if the cards are used and I buy one during the sale?

most likely used

also a 1080 would not be good for 4k VR at all

1440p

Thank you very much for the speedy answers! I will not be buying from these third parties. I will instead save up to get one from the verified board partners on Amazon. Shame it's not legit but I thought it was too good to be true anyways!

I even saw one recently whereby the 'seller' required you to purchase an Amazon gift card in the amount of $xxx.
Transfer the gift card to them, and then they 'send' you the part.

So, from Amazon's viewpoint, you have purchased a gift card. And that's all.
Transfer it to the 'seller', and now the seller has a valid instrument to spend or sell at a discount.
You, OTOH, are out $xxx for the gift card and no GPU.
