So I recently built a brand new PC. I have a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB as the boot drive. I opened samsung magician software and it said that for the best ssd performance, I should enable AHCI mode. I have an asus z170-a and I have checked my BIOS for anything about this. The only thing I found was PCH Storage Configuration in which I changed the SATA mode selection from RAID to AHCI. However, after I loaded samsung magician, it still said that AHCI was disabled. How do I enable AHCI mode?

Solution
There's a well-known bug in the Samsung Magician program that falsely indicates the AHCI mode is not enabled in the BIOS when it actually has been. It's a virtual certainty your SATA controller mode has AHCI enabled (unless you changed it to IDE - which of course you didn't). Enjoy the SSD...
