I currently run a 2600k with 16g ram and a nvidia 970 video card. Shy of the video card my system is almost 6 years old but runs fairly well.

I found what I thought was a great deal for cyber monday for a custom build from Cyberpower. I know they don't have the best reputation which scares me a little but the price seems right. The specs are:

Price for system is 1020. Do you think i should keep this or cancel the order? Will I see much improvement? The alternative is just keep my system and upgrade my video card to a 1070. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

On the last line I mentioned that I have an evga 1070 ftw that I got cheap. So I can keep my old system and just use new video card or do the upgrade. Is it worth it price wise (plus considering it is cyberpower).

Oh I thought you were going to discard the system and then get the GPU. But if yo uhave the 1070, the grab the system. It is pre-built for you and has a i7-6700k which is pretty powerful. Paired with the 1070 it will do amazing, as opposed to your 2600k (no offense). Couple ways to save money, if you really don't need a DVD drive, you can remove that. If you want the Blu-ray burner, then be my guess. 16GB of rram is all you need. In fact, most software will not go over 10GB. If you want to keep the 32GB, then be my guess, but it is not necessary. The overclock software is not needed. In ffact, any BIOS changes made within Windows can be bad. If you want to make CPU changes, always do it within the BIOS. If you don't know what you are doing, don't change it at all since the base clock should be enough for you (going from a 2600 to 6700). Other than that, enjoy your new PC.

Personally I'd keep your current system unless for whatever reason your i7-2600K is not performing to your expectations but its still a very good CPU and would last longer if you overclocked it. I would sell your GTX 970, buy a GTX 1070 and enjoy. If you really get bored I'd buy a good aftermarket cooler and overclock that 2600K as far as it will safely go.

I doubt you would see much of a performance difference if you paired either i7 (2600K & 6700K) with a GTX 1070, at least not enough to justify buying a new system.
