SanDisk Plus 240GB
Kingston UV400 240GB
Toshiba Q300 240GB
Adata SP550 240GB
Galax Gamer 240GB
Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
SanDisk Ultra II 240GB
Intel 540 Series 240GB

I'm gonna use it as my OS Drive, and maybe put a couple of games in it just to see the difference from using an HDD.

Depending on pricing, the SP550 is probably the pick of that pack. It also handles a close to full drive much better than most other budget TLC models.

If you're buying in the US, and the capacity is significant for you, the 275GB MX300 is only about $17 more. You get ~12% more space, and while it costs a bit more (and more per GB), it is a faster drive.

Honestly though, you'd be fine with a budget drive and assuming price-parity with your above list, I'd pick the SP550.
Honestly real world performace you won't see any difference in things like Startup and game loading.

The thing that REALLY makes SSD's so fast is the Seek time which is almost nothing. It doesn't have to wait for the platter to turn to get the next bit like a HDD.

For the most part you only need to pay attenention to the read/write speeds is if you really need them. Things like moving data around, video editing, Big Databases, etc. Otherwise I would go with the one with the best reviews.

Thats just my 2 cents though, but I use Samsung and Crucial which to me are both and I don't see any performance different between them.

Linus from Linus Tech Tips really has a strong preference for Intel and Kingston. Seeing what he and his company do on a daily basis, I trust they have a good basis for this preference. I mean, Intel doesn't sponsor many of their videos at all, so I highly doubt they're using Intel drives just because of sponsorship.

If the price is acceptable, I'd go with the Intel one.

Both Intel and Kingston give them loads and loads of free hardware. They may not directly sponsor many LTT videos, but for their ultimate storage box Kingston sent them, what was it, I think 20 x 1TB server grade SSDs valued at like $15K or something for absolutely nothing. They usually run Kingston RAM in their rigs and ultimate builds for similar reasons. Kingston just mail them the hardware for free. For a while there Intel was just sending them the uber-expensive 750s too for their high end builds.

I don't have anything against Kingston or Intel, specifically, but I don't think LTT using them often is a good reason to recommend them, personally.

Having said that, the Intel 540 has a fantastic reputation for reliability. It's usually priced well above the others in the list, (partpicker US has it within $4 of the 480GB Ultra II right now). It's overpriced purely because of the Intel branding. But if you can get it at a similar price, it would for sure be a good buy.

Here's my reason for recommending the SP550: http://www.anandtech.com/show/10131/the-adata-premier-sp550-ssd-review/10
