Just got an SSD - Want to move OS and games to SSD

So I recently bought a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD and had plans for moving my OS (Windows 10 Pro) + Steam/non-steam games on there. I want to keep my old 1TB HDD for music, photos, photoshop, and basically non-gaming applications. Is there a way to pick and choose what to move over to the SSD? How should I go about this this? Some have told me it's better to install the OS on the SSD, then move whatever you need.

You can use Window backup tool to backup system and installed programs (Windows Backup will select system partition and the partition has software installed on), and then restore to SSD.

You can also use third party cloning software to clone only system or entire hard drive to the SSD.

If you do not mind the work of installing OS and programs, it is recommended to do a clean install.

I'm thinking what I should do is:

Remove HDD
Clean OS install on SSD
Install HDD
Redirect everything to HDD (Storage)
Transfer games to SSD.

Now after installing my HDD, will the data remain? Or will Windows have to format it to recognize it?

installing an HDD will not affect the data on the SSD. Normally it will have no problem recognizing it.

I think removing HDD before installing OS on SSD is a good move, because there are rare cases that SSD won't boot after removing old HDD.

I am wondering how you gonna transfer games to SSD.

I was referring to the data on the HDD. I want to know if that'll stay intact after I'm done with installing the OS on the SSD.

Once I plug my HDD with all my data on it back into the computer, can I use it like normal again or will there be any additional steps required?
