Why Do We Need HIGH SPEED RAM?

Why do we need high speed ram when all you need to have is more ram. Even for productivity, all you need is more ram instead of high speed ram. So what's the use of those high speed ram sticks? I know for a fact that you need high speed ram for fast responsiveness (to my knowledge). So back to my question, what are the uses of high speed ram and why do we need it?

You don't NEED fast DRAM, especially if single tasking, for multi-tasking, using DRAM intensive apps, large data sets and the the like the faster DRAMs wider bandwidth provides for nice increases performance wise, even in many of the newer games and upcoming games ;)

The most probable reason is,you will need it sometime later,when high demanding games would be launched requiring much much faster ram.As of now,even 1600Mhz is still okay.:)
