Hi people!
I want to clone my existing version of windows from my primary drive which is a 1TB WD Blue HDD onto my 500gb SSD. I got a 500gb external hard drive for a backup of windows in case everything goes south. I am trying to use the free version of Macrium Reflect but I constantly get errors. If I backup everything to my external drive with Macrium can I then unplug my hard drive, install windows onto the SSD, and copy my files over? Would this work with games and software? Then could I Plug my 1TB HDD into the PC and use it as a secondary drive?

Many thanks in advance!

You can do it that way. Just reinstall Windows onto your SSD, then you can just plug your HDD back into your computer, and you'll be able to access that drive for all your games, you may need to recreate shortcuts for them to be accessible, but you'll be able to access everything. It may take some getting used to, but it is possible that way.

Edit: I believe you may be able to merge your Desktop with the old one, I'm sure there's a guide out there somewhere.

What errors do you get?

Copying your "software" like that will not work.
