I was checking my GPU in my rig to see the dust build up (it was bad :/ ) and I noticed that my PSU has a 6 pin connector with a 2 pin off to the side. I thought to myself "maybe I can get that 1070?" but then I said "wait, its a old CX430M." so guys I want you to help me. IS the 6+2 pin connector good enough for a 8 pin GPU such as a 1070 (or 1060 FTW lol) or should I get a new PSU.

Cheers mates

Yeah, I would definitely recommend getting a new PSU, what are the rest of your specifications for your computer so I can recommend a PSU with the correct wattage, with a little headroom on top :)

My guess is that you'll need either a 550W or 650W or something inbetween.

Could you also give me a basic budget on what you'd like to spend, remember to not cheap out on your PSU, could be the worst mistake to make as it can cost your whole system.

My current rig is here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
I had to make a few changed with the list because I couldnt find the exact parts. Really the HD7850 is the MSI TwinFrozor and the case is a no name case I found on sale at a store near the mall. The DVD drive also is a Benq not Asus. But there you go.

My upgrade is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/
Im thinking of using the same PSU and a spare Prodigy I found. SO recomend a PSU for this thank you!
