Games loading VERY slowly (After GPU Upgrade)

I recently upgraded my GPU from a 270X to the RX 480. Everything went smoothly and the new card seemed fine.

I was testing it in some games and noticed everything was loading really slowly. Games like Rocket League would now stutter on the start up screen. Additionally, when starting a game within rocket league, it would lag for the first few seconds and then be a smooth ~180fps for the remaining game. The same thing happened in other games, DOOM and Battlefield 1.

To me this sounded like an issue loading the games data from the HDD to the RAM, however it seems like too much of a coincidence that this occurred after upgrading the GPU. Could that have caused this? Or are there any good tests I can run for this?

Thanks!

I found the solution if this might help anybody. I don't think it directly had anything to do with the GPU upgrade.

But the SATA cable in my HDD was very bent out of shape and damaged, it was resting against the side of the case, so I think the process of taking off / on the side panel threw it over the edge!
