I have this old aspire v5-552g that I wanted to upgrade since it is already showing its age. So I grabbed the cheapest 120gb SSD (since I've got some external drives where I keep my games, movies and etc).

I tried using a PCB of an old external drive as sata reader for the ssd. It doesnt show anything be it in the disk manager or the device manager. Maybe this doesnt work since it is a SSD i said to myself. So I swapped the HDD to the SSD, turned it on, went to bios and it detects nothing for the hdd.

This is my first time with SSDs so sorry if I'm panicking for nothing

Hey there, Elucro.

What do you mean by "I tried using a PCB of an old external drive as sata reader for the ssd"? Do you mean the external enclosure of an old external drive? If you've tried the original external enclosure of an external drive with other drives, then not being able to detect those drives is normal sometimes. I assume that the SSD's interface is SATA, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Try connecting the SSD internally by using a SATA connection. You could also give it a go with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens.

Hope that helps.
