Ok, I am a noob on my first build, so forgive me for what will probably be a totally ridiculous/ocd question.

I've noticed through my intel i7 5820k packaging that the processor appears to have 4 lines or etchings. They are not obvious, and are only visible when I catch the light in a certain way. What are they? They are are symmetrical, and would form a square if lined up, and so I presume are meant to be there.

I only ask, as today is the last day I can return to microcenter, and my motherboard doesn't arrive till Friday...

It should have a manufacturers warranty beyond the 2 weeks that Microcenter allows for returns so if you have issues you are covered.
Since I don't have one to look at :) I don't know if this is deliberate or some kind of mark left by the manufacturing process.

It's more like 4 tiny etchings. You can see one just about below the 5 on the second image. On the first image, the etching is below and to the right of the numbering. There seems to be some discoloration/faded patch between these to points. Further up the CPU are two further etchings, in alignment with the first two, next to the R trademark and the 5 in 5820k.

In fact, there may be similar marks on the second image you linked to, again beside (top left) of R trademark, and then on/above the C immediately to the right...

I'm probably being majorly OC, but just want to check, as this will be my first build.
