Would you please post a screenshot of what you see about the drive in Disk Management? Here's how to access it: How to access Disk Management in Windows.
You can't just lose space from the maximum available storage capacity of the drive. I'd recommend that you backup your important data just to be on the safe side and test the HDD for errors with its manufacturer's diagnostic tool, to see if anything alarming pops-up.
