Currently have a 4GB ram on my rig which really limits and stutters my gaming experience.

So will adding 8GB ram with my existing 4GB ram work even if it isn't dual channel. My understanding of dual channel is that it supposed to have/be the same brand(?) clock speed and size or just the same(please correct and enlighten me if I'm wrong)

So it will be a total of 12GB ram if it works. However can I utilized or use the 12GB for games or it will just use the 8GB/4GB or one of the sticks as a memory while gaming?

Or should I just use the 8GB stick independently?and wait till I can get another 8GB to use the other slot?

Here's my mobo if you need some details http://

Sorry for my english

Like said it's not weird. 4+4gb is working in dualchannel now and the remaining 4gb will be used in single channel, this is called "flex mode".Just be happy it works together without issues. ;)

What does "mixing" memory means? So even if it is the same brand and speed but doesn't have the same size, its still "mixing"?

If it's dual channel, then they will need to match. It would be better to get a kit, but as long as the size and speed are the same, you should be good. I would just use the 8, and then add another 8 down the road.

Mixing means any memory that was not sold in a matched set in one package. Including adding anouther stick of the same memory. It's always best to buy memory as a matched set.

I don't see where I said that flex mode has been around a long time. All I stated is if it works together will be hit or miss.
