So I'm pretty sure I want to get a power line adapater for my PS4 for a wired connection. I want to get one of the TP LINK products. I want to get my speed up a lot of should I go with AV500 or AV1200?

Solution
Actually, they work across rings. Unless you mean physically separated circuits, houses with one ring per floor are fine for powerline. HOWEVER, its a real YMMV situation. If the house is new with arc fault equipment, powerline will struggle.

I run AV600 from TP link. It serves my upstairs PC, TV and PS4. All receive link rates of 150 and actual download is 40mbps which is my internet cap. Transfer from my PC upstairs to NAS downstairs (which is via powerline, then Ethernet, router, back to NAS) is 80mpbs. Very stable.

I have known people not to be able to use powerline on separate floors however. my house is 20 years old.

Also, check your sockets. often the exposed core has oxidised and by stripping re-socketing (as it were) you...
I can't hep with your question but the first thing to check is if your house has more than one circuit.

Powerline can only work if both the adapters are in the same circuit and some properties have separate circuits for each floor or for extensions on the same level.

They won't work in my place. The single storey house has one circuit and the extension where I run my business has a completely separate one which is why I always advise folks to check that before spending out on adapters.

Here in England, it isn't just me - several customers of mine failed the tests when I was about to suggest powerline as a fix. Maybe our electrical regulations specifiy it for add ons to a building.

I'm in UK too.

I guess separate circuits' and rings may be different. But in all houses they have always worked across floors for me albeit at lower link speeds....never tried in garage though.

Very good point regarding returns policy! Must be one of the most returned items.
