I know people are gonna say what's the point...ddr4 is out but, I've wanted to upgrade my ram for a while I currently use Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00...i actually have 32gbs of this ram because my wife was supposed to possibly get into video editing and that didn't go...but I've noticed a few newer games now are recommending the use of 16gbs of ram or more...So i was wondering if anyone knows a good upgrade for the ram...asrock kind of doesn't have a big list of sticks, unless you all think that 1600 is good enough, i have in bios to auto pick the speeds...should i have the ram set to 1600 instead of auto, on a side note as well asrock says if you're going to overclock at all and have 4 sticks you should invest in cooling the ram, anyone have good reviews on any ram coolers? Thanks guys

Not really, it means it can support a 9xxx series CPU which is a waste of money, they are OCed 8350s. As far as the DRAM, if I were to upgrade I'd look at 2133 max for purchase, on mine I already had sets of 2400 from my Intel rigs and was able to try and confirm at no cost

Bah, humbug ;) What CPU? If you have a decent FX CPU you should be able to run all 32GB at 1600 which can give you a boost here and there. There should be no heat problem, I run 32GB of 2400 with my 8370. You seldom ever find a DRAM combo that will need cooling, most of the fans and such coming with sets of DRAM are for looks and a slight price increase, I have a small collection of them I give to clients that just are looking for something to liven up the looks of their rigs ;)

I as well have a 8370, I'm not sure though if the heat spreaders on my ram are as good as what others may have.....

So is there a point in upgrading to say a 2440 or w/e I can upgrade to with an asrock fatal1ty 990fx killer? Or should just stick with the 1600 and have it run 1600 vs auto in the bios?

ON a side note is there also an advantage to having a motherboard with the 220W vs 140W (I believe mine is) even if you use a cpu that does nto require higher then a 140?
