this cant be right, it would be melting correct?

Solution

Thermal paste shouldn't break down by now but it would not hurt to remove the cooler, clean it thoroughly and re-apply just to see if that improves the temps.

Please watch your language. I edited out your 4 letter word.

I think that number is wrong because you surely would have burnt an FX 6300. Its possible the temp sensor is failing, or its really overheating and getting an erroneous reading.

Whats your cooler?

Well im still trying to figure out what happened,

I was playing a game overwatch and the randomly shut off, i turn it back on and looked at the temps that was reading in the op , so i ran overwatch and notice major lag so i restarted now getting bout average readings. Maybe my cpu did fail idk..

You need to monitor while you are playing and see what the temps are and if you are throttling. Throttling would be the CPU lowering its clock speed during the game.

Your CPU didn't fail if it did it wouldn't run at all. You may have other thermal issues, and in the end you may need to replace your motherboard, cpu or both, but lets see.

oh did some testing on a few games that i normally run on high, gta v and overwatch,

my specs is
cpu: fx6300
gpu: gtx 960
motherboard: is stock msi 760gm-ps23
i have 2 ddr3 8gb gskill ripjaws
the heat sink is stock idk what it is

so basically my cpu idle runs nice and cool 20c-30c
if im just browsing and have a few programs up like ts3 , steam, chrome, spotify it runs at like 40-50c

now when i play games the temp of the cpu reaches like 70c-80c within just 10 minutes of play time
ill also notice random frame drops and see that the cpu usage is raising.

my case runs pretty cool i have 6 fans rotating cool air from my room its usually at abot same as when my pc is idle.

I cleaned it out about two weeks ago as i usaly clean it out evey 3 weeks.
Im not sure how old the equipment is i bought the system about 3-4 years ago ,
I was gonna try changing thermal psate but didnt think it be that old by now.
