I am looking for a budget ssd that is reliable and fast I live in the USA and can't spend more than 140-150 dollars need around 500 GB of storage .

I was looking at the MX300 and sandisk ultra 2 but heard that they start to degrade soon after buying them and wear down but the 850 evo is too expensive I would get otherwise if I could.

If what I heard is untrue and either will work fine then I will just the mx300

You're asking 24 hours too late. The 500GB 850 EVO was on sale for $110-$130 from a lot of retailers, including Amazon, over Cyber Monday. They even threw in a copy of Watch Dogs 2.

If you're not in a rush, it goes on sale for about $125-$150 every 2-3 months. With Christmas coming up, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on sale again. Try setting up a deal alert for "850 evo" on slickdeals.

Where did you 'hear' this?
No, they don't 'degrade soon after buying them'.

The Crucial is fine, and I have a 1 year old Sandisk Ultra II 960GB that is doing just fine.

There is no 'constant price', especially at this time of year.
Prices change daily, sometimes hourly.

I'm not sure exactly what you want but being rude isn't going to get you there.

SSDs. There are no "bad" SSDs. Even the drives with relatively low write endurance will last for many years. The only solid state drives I would avoid would be Kingston and that's more for previous behavior than any bad drives on the market right now.

So here's the list. Find something in your price range.

Don't refresh the page though. The prices might change. ;)

The SSDNow series is on my Do Not Buy list, simply for past idiocy from Kingston. And I own other Kingstons.

A 120GB SSD is on my Do Not Buy list simply due to size.

agreed..

1. prices change constantly. even if it were not around xmas time you can not expect prices to remain constant.
2. while there are certainly drives which wear faster than others, as mentioned before unless under extremely heavy writes you shouldnt notice
3. being rude is not going to get you anywhere.

my suggestion would be to keep checking prices on the 850 evo 500gb although truthfully just about any ssd will work as many are reliable enough for the average user.

So any sandisk or crucial Samsung etc. Would be good for playing games with good write and read performance while still lasting as long as I'm not like writing 100 thing a day but maybe a game or two every month or SK it would last for years basically so the MX 300 would be my best bet unless the Samsung goes on sale and am able to get it

So it looks like the mx300 will work then just really afraid of the durablitly for downloading games thought I won't be downloading games to it every day just certain ones and when I need to upgrade I will get a 850 evo for my main drive and start putting games on that, but I will be downloading games like GTA v and doom but looks like it will be fine and is quite fast
