Shipped computer - found cables disconnected and internal USB socket bent

OK, I'm worried.

So, I shipped my computer internationally from the UK to the US, packed it very well by the packing company and sent it via FedEx.

Today, I opened the package and then I opened the case. Thankfully, it wasn't anything like DHL, but I noticed that the PSU to Mobo cables were slightly loose - no problem, I pushed them back in.

I noticed the LED lights/connectors were completely out from the mobo - no problem, I plugged it back in.

I noticed near the PSU that there is a USB 3 socket. The USB cable is completely out from it and the socket is bent.

I plugged in the power cable and I see a red light on the mobo switch on - that's fine (I think, need to see what red means or if that's a normal thing - its an ASUS motherboard for an Intel i7 990X (I think its 990).

Problem is, I am VERY reluctant to switch it on in case if smoke comes out or something serious happens. The HDD's seems to be in tact but I am just scared in switching it on.

Any ideas what to do? Would it be better to take it to a proper PC place? (I need to hunt around the area for one)

It has all my data on it of course, worried in case if the drives are damaged during transit as a result of the discovery of the things on the motherboard and how it was.

RAM, CPU, GFX, sound card all seemed to be fine in tact but these little things, I'm a little concerned about.

Thoughts?

but this is a NEW build from a tech guy back in the UK

That bent pin inside the connector cannot happen during shipping.
Unless the PSU was not securely mounted.

How and why is that whole blue block at a 30 degree angle?

A 'bump in transit' cannot do that.
You could drop that PC off a desk and it would only do that if the PSU was not mounted securely.

PC's are shipped all over the world every day. Thousands and thousands.
With good construction, things like that cannot happen
With poor construction, anything can happen.

I will get some pictures. The claim isn't the issue here its more about if I should switch it on or not.

The only way I can see it got bent was because it is VERY near the PSU and I am sure there was some bump or something that caused it to shun and then as a result the USB cable got popped out due to the force of that bump.

First is the original pic. The 2nd one highlights the area I am referring to and where the USB cable/connection is.

OK...that's more than a single bent pin.
That looks to be the result of a PSU not mounted securely, shifting, and almost breaking off that whole cable block.

Or it was like that before it got shipped.

I don't think it was like that before, definitely not. The PSU is pretty solidly in there (I didn't put it in) but I just think it was the hard bumps along the way.

what do you think I should do? Switch it on or... not? I don't want there to be smoke coming out or a big bang or something....

"(I didn't put it in)"
You didn't put this system together? So you don't know if it was like that?

Dollars to donuts it was already like that.

A PSU that is properly mounted cannot move that far.
Otherwise, 1/2 of the PCs on the planet would be broken.

Is it safe to turn on?
Seeing that level of damage, completely unknown. I'm not going to recommend either way.

oh boy...

so I have opened the system before many times. I know for a fact it wasn't like that.
I did build the system but this is a NEW build from a tech guy back in the UK as the other system got damaged in transit for an already repair order. Long story.

I am telling you, that it wasn't like that. Also I don't think the cables would have been dismounted by itself without it either being opened by someone or bumps in transit otherwise the system would have switched on like it did before I left home and sent it for shipping....Furthermore I have swapped out drives myself too.

the red light on the mobo does come on when I connect the power cable (but don't turn on the system itself) so there seems to be power going to the board.

LMFAO no, a cable could not bend that to that degree. I don't understand the confusion here. It obviously does not look like it would be safe to turn on. File a claim. Not sure what is so difficult to understand about that.
