Hello, I'll try and be ...concise
I'm looking to upgrade my "gaming" machine, you may laugh when you see the current hardware.

My rig:
Motherboard: Socket AM3+ - AMD 760G - GA-78LMT-S2PT (rev. 3.1)
http://www.gigabyte.co.nz/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4129&dl=1#dl
Ram: 8gig (2x4gig of G.Skill) of DDR3 (Part# F3-10666CL9-4GBXL)
CPU: AMD FX-4100 (Socket AM3+ 942)
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270 (200 series), 2gig onboard

What I have seems to be getting frame rates I find acceptable at full settings on 1080p (40-60fps surprisingly), with games released 2+ years ago. But my steam backlog won't last forever and I'm still very much looking forward to playing the newer games like Witcher 3, Dragon age Inquisition and Fallout 4, I have tried but playing at 30fps or less is distracting and I don't really want to lower the settings.

What I'd like to do is just squeeze what little I can out of the motherboard (if possible) by upgrading to the BEST CPU and RAM to the maximum of what the motherboard will allow, purely for gaming purposes.

A newer Graphics card may be optional if it won't be bottlenecked by the other components but I can't justify spending $500NZD+ on one part. I hear the Radeon RX480 is a new, cheap alternative to the Nvidia cards for 1080p gaming but I'm open to suggestions.

Speaking of cost, money is tight, I'm prepared to expect spending between $300-$700NZD give or take a few hundred, it all depends on what components are suggested, keep in mind I'm in New Zealand, so prices for pc components here are a little more I think.

I appreciate your expert advice! Thanks in advance.

Your motherboard will support 16GB RAM, but I don't think this is a necessary upgrade and would not spend money on it.

The FX8350 is a 125w cpu and your motherboard is not nearly good enough to support a 125w cpu. Avoid.

There is a good chance that your 500w psu would need to be replaced, but psus in NZ are REALLY expensive. I wouldn't buy one without knowing for sure.

Also, for the RAM, I checked the support list from the manufacturer but I don't see if I can get any more than 8gig, any idea if it would be possible with this motherboard?

I really like the suggestion for the AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz processor. However, if I were able to spend another $110, would the AMD FX-8350 4GHz 8 core be suitable for my board? I see on passmark that it's far better than my current CPU and a bit better than the FX-6300, if a little more $.

That's a nice cheap video card and PassMark indicates it has a far better rating!

Would these upgrades require a higher rated PSU?

Compatibility and upgrades in mind and this is possibly a silly question, would I see a good improvement, say 40-60 fps in some of the newer games? I.E Witcher 3, Doom, Deus Ex: Mankind devided etc?

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. It just so happens that PBtech have the FX6300 on special for the next hour or so, I'm going to order it right away.
I'll skip the RAM and get myself the RX-470.
Thanks again!
