New to overclocking

Hello,
I'd like some advice on how (and whether if I should) proceed with overclocking my hardware.

I've got an Intel i7-6700K, MSI Gaming M5 Motherboard, 16 Gigs of RAM, ASUS Strix GTX 1070 and a CoolerMaster Hyper 212X Cooler.

I remember reading that it's safe to overclock the 6700K to 4.4GHz without any worries but I am not sure about it. And I have no idea how much overclocking is considered "safe" (relatively) for the 1070.

Any advice?

Yep, to 4.2GHz on stock voltage will be 100% fine, not sure about 4.4 tho.
A safe OC setting that I consistently get stable results on with client builds is 1.4v and 4.7GHz, i'd go with that. :)
Also set llc (load line calibration) to high to avoid vdroop.

I personally think 1.4 should be fine as well but there are many who will argue that. Many will suggest keeping it closer to 1.35 with 14nm chip. I have mine set to 1.35 with a positive offset of 30 I believe with llc set to 6 @4.6ghz. My vcore reads at 1.344 while jumping to 1.360-1.376 max under load. It has been solid for me. If you wanna be around 4.4 you should be able to do it at around 1.3-1.325

I also don't have a lot of experience with the Evo. I always have liquid cooling. So watch your temps as you crank your voltage up as that will play a big factor in reaching your final settings.
