Hello
I have gigabyte ga-ep41-udl3 mb with Core 2 Quad q9300 2.50ghz GTX 660 Ti JetStream and 4gb DDr2 800mhz ram 2x2gb.Now as I know I can oc this cpu to 3.0ghz without problems and some big heat.I tried to oc but I can oc only to 2.57 because my ram speed says in bios that is 667mhz and when I increase cpu oc it shows like this:667 687 and if I try to oc a little more ram speed from 687 goes higher and my pc won't turn on.Can you help me guys I really don't know what to do and I have really old bios I am afraid to update it don't know really how should I update it.Thank you

When overclocking a locked Core 2 CPU, you must increase the FSB frequency. Since you are aiming for 3GHz with a Q9300 (x7.5 multiplier), you will need to run the FSB at 400MHz.

There should be an option in the BIOS to adjust the RAM speed, you will need to have it set to run at either a 1:1 FSB:RAM ratio, or to run at 400MHz(DDR2-800), since that is your RAM's maximum rated speed.

Looking at the manyual for your motherboard, this option should be located under "Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker" -> "System Memory Multiplier", and change it from "Auto" to whichever of the options above it allows.

If it doesn't show up there, you may have to update your BIOS in order to get it to work. What BIOS version are you currently running?

Jesus, your post reads like you were very rushed when you wrote it. Please try to slow down and accurately describe what is happening.

So, when you try to raise the CPU frequency (base clock or multiplier?) the RAM frequency goes up automatically? Can you raise the CPU multiplier but keep the RAM at the default speeds? You shouldn't need to raise RAM speed to raise CPU speed, but I've never overclocked a core 2 so I'm not 100% what the procedure would be. On the intel core i3/i5/i7 chips you just leave the base clock and raise the frequency multiplier.

Sorry I was in hurry :D.Yes actually when I increase cpu frequency in same time my RAM speed increase from 667mhz to up.And that is problem if ram speed stays near to 667mhz I could oc cpu without problems but it doesn't stay near 667mhz it stays if I oc cpu example from 2.50 to 2.52,53,54,55,56,57 all above that oc won't count..
