I'm currently renting a combo wifi router/modem from Time Warner and I want to buy my own to save rental charges & have better connections. There are 5 of us in household. My son has a PS4 & does some online gaming, we watch Netflix on tv & iPad. There are 3 smart phones that use wifi and a computer. The PS4 & tv I will probably plug in. Everything else using wifi. I would like to get about 10 years or so out of modem & router. We have had issues with connecting to our current system at times. Someone at Best Buy said I should buy the Netgear AC3200. I've also read that the Netgear AC1900 is a great router. What do you recommend?

Most people (including you) won't get any faster speeds from an AC3200 over an AC1900 router. The client devices (phones, tablets, laptops) don't have fast enough hardware on them to get any faster speeds. Save money and get the AC1900 either the Netgear or an Asus.
