Hello, i have been working on a build for some guy, and wanted to create strong PC with a bit lower budget. I would like to ask you, what do you think, will a cheap mobo with H110 chipset be good enough for handling a gtx 1070? Or should i get a B150? The OC is not really needed here, so just wonder if a H110 mobo will deal with gtx 1070, i5 6500 and 2133 MHz DDR4 RAM? It also dont need as much ports (such as USB...), only support for an SSD such as Samsung 750 evo and one or two HDD-s. The system is mostly/fully made for gaming.

TThanks for answer, Marcel

Solution
Yeah, that motherboard will support the GPU, as long as it has a PCIe 3.0 Lane, and with it being within the newest released CPUs from Intel (Soon to be Kaby Lake) then it can handle it, and has that slot.

Make sure that the PSU has the correct wattage and cable attachments for the GTX 1070 though, it may need a 6 pin, 6+2 pin or both.

As long as the motherboard has the features you want, a PCIe 3.0 lane, as mentioned above, and enough sata ports for the hard drives and or dvd drives you need you should be good. Do try and stick with the more well known brands though, ASRock Asus Biostar ECS EVGA Foxconn Gigabyte Intel MSI Sapphire Supermicro XFX Zotac.

The only part you never want to go cheap on is the power supply. I'm a little biased for Corsair and always go with their Corsair RM550 for low watt builds or probably more appropriate for this a Corsair RM650x. The 1070 recommends a 500 watt psu and the difference between the rm550 and the rm650x is only $10 on newegg.

The bus speed for H110 is 5 gigatransfers per second while the other ones like H170 are 8 gigatransfers per second. The last time I bought a "cheaper" power supply it was an Antec Basiq 450 watt. But that was cheaper in Canadian dollars and I haven't tried it yet...
