I was wondering if it was possible to pair a budget CPU with a mid/highish end GPU.Any positive or negative answers are kindly accepted

As the other poster said, the Gtx 1060 card should work fine with an I3 Intel cpu.

But if you could stretch to an I5 cpu things would be better.
That is if you wish to play games made in 2015 to 2016.

It is as EpIckFa1LJoN all down to the games you wish to play.
But at some point going into 2017 games and released, they may be more cpu dependent.
So the question is, do you upgrade the cpu now or wait.

If you decide to fit a higher end model or tier of graphics card say a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080. = I3 bottle neck.
Then I would buy a I5 cpu, and a motherboard with good overclocking features.

Or plan on doing it a few months down the line.

Nope. Those two actually go pretty well together. That's a solid budget system.

Only thing is if you wanted to play BF1 you'd need a better CPU, that game is incredibly CPU intensive. Other than that, you can even play GTA V well with that CPU and GPU.

The good thing about the 6100 is the hyper-threading. It is much more advanced than older duo-core processors, and the 4 threads act as simulated cores, giving a boost in performance, not quite as much as a true quad-core, but decent nonetheless.

But if you wanted to play BF1 you'd need at least an i5 6600K, which runs about $200-250, and you'd also need a Z170 motherboard to overclock it, otherwise you are really wasting it's potential.

But if you don't want to play BF1, those are completely fine for basically anything else.

I completely agree, more would be better. It all comes down to budget restriction in the end though :/
