so after trying to get wins 7 installed on my 4TB i gave up and went back to my 500gb drive, tried to hide system reserve that was showing up on programs like computer management, i used a program called. AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition, now my system reserve name is blank wont let me edit it, properties is grayed out wont let me select, also my data drive has one of those 128 petitions, anyway to solve this and is it normal for this drive to have that? here's a picture...

as you can see the system drive at the top has system reserve but its blank and cannot rename it, also when I was trying to get my OS on 4tb hard drive, I had nothing but problems, it would boot fine act normal., but seemed to act weird, and crash when i was trying to install my anti virus from my ISP

one last question, normally I would boot my disk through the BIOS normally windows would install over 30 gigs, but this time I did it directly when i was on windows 7 and it downloaded 48 gb instead, so my concern.. was it someone how missing files? causing it not to function correctly? as of now I am back on my 500gb hard drive with out issue.

It does not sound like you are doing the right things here to install Windows. Don't touch the system reserved partition.

Take that 500 gb drive, start the Windows 7 setup on it, delete the existing partitions and proceed with the installation. Don't touch it afterwards, you are just creating your own issues for no reason.

Not sure what your issue is when installing to the larger drive, but from the way you explain what you did or tried to do, you may want to have someone help you locally that knows about computers install Windows on the 4TB drive, no clue what you are trying to say about "did it directly when you were in Windows 7", but it does not sound like you were doing the correct thing. Also your system has to be able to support 4TB disks which some motherboards don't.

thanks for your reply, well my mother board is asus maximums vii, so gaming type, would assume it would work, the OS does infact boot, but notice weird things happen, like the drive would be normal then it jumps to FULL with 150 gb/150mb left, etc then back to normal. forgot to mention that.

also when i install my ANTI VIRUS it normally crashes me.

Buy a 256 or 512 GB SSD for the computer, you have a high end motherboard (and I'm guessing other parts to match) and using a standard drive is silly for that setup. You don't buy a $60,000 car then cheap tires or gas in it. Should have no issues with installing things. Before you start to install programs make sure all Windows updates are finished on it.

I understand what you're saying, I did use to have 220 gb ssd but it only lasted a month before going bad... at the moment was just trying to upgrade my space on my OS as just run out to fast with this 500gb.
