Steam link and the minor inconviniences

So after a many years as a console gamer, I finally got the money and knowledge to build my own gaming rig earlier this year. In no small part thanks to the forums here on Toms Hardware, I managed to build a pretty cool machine, that I love to bits.

But I kinda missed the whole gaming in the living room experience, and even my GF said she missed having me in the living room during her long study hours.

So obviously I looked towards Steam Link, and started to collect all the needed parts. So far I managed to get a Steam Link, a new router, a couple powerline adapters and a Xbox wireless adapter (Thank you Black Friday).

Yesterday I finally got it all to work for the first time, and I'm actually really impressed. The graphics is really impressive, and it feels good to play in the living room again. Of course there is minor inputlag, but I don't really plan to play a lot of competetive fps, but more games like The Witcher 3, modded Fallout 4, and other games where a little input lag doesn't matter too much.

However I need a little bit of inspiration to make the experience as pleasurable as possible, and this is where I was hoping to get a little input from you guys.

First, when I started getting the gear, I thought that I would be able to use my Xbox One controllers for the Steam link. Thus I also got a Xbox One wireless adapter, but apparantly it doesn't work with the Steam link. Of course I could just use a long USB cable, but it is a little bit annoying having a long wire across the floor. Do you know of any way to getting the controller to work wirelessly with the steam link?

Secondly, it is a bit inconvinient to get off my lazy butt, and go in to the office and power on my rig, everytime I want to game a little bit. I have managed to get an app for my phone, so I can wake my PC via the network. However I still need to go in and type my password to unlock my PC. Do you have any suggestions how to unlock my PC remotely?

I hope that some of you might have some good suggestions, or if you have any other tips and tricks, I would love to hear about them.

Solution
create a second user that is the default that has no password, and not access to any docs, only programs? you'd need to flip users when you wanted to do 'secure' stuff?

Yeah, I know, but for peace of mind I really like having a password on my PC. Im a bit paranoid when it comes to password protectiong stuff. But if this bothers me enough, I would probably end up doing that...
