My rig-
Fx 6300
Asus strix rx460 4gb
10gb ram

With my specs, i can play gta v with everything at max and aa off.
Just to see if overclocking would improve performance i used wattman and set the clocks to max and the system crashed. It took a few attempts to boot up and i was very worried.

So i want to know if i should try to overclock and how to correctly do it.

Ps-msi afterburner didn't work , as it kept resetting whenever i clicked apply.

Overclocking your gpu would make more of a difference probably, but yeah overclocking your cpu should at least help a little considering how weak the FX cpus are. There are hundreds of guides out there for overclocking your 6300. I recommend checking a few of them out. You can't just "set the clocks to max" and expect that to work. You have to start small and creep up the clocks a little at a time repeatedly verifying stability. If done correctly, it's not a quick thing.

What motherboard do you have? If you have a cheapo 760g board, you may be out of luck.

well if u have more than one program that tweaks your gpu settings that could be the prob.
find out the programs you have on start up. take them off and/or end task in task manager.
then try afterburner

I had mine stable at 1360MHz memory at 1850 but gains were not good enough for me to use anything higher than factory OC 1256MHz value. Around 2-7% performance gain when measured in Unigine tests.
