Okay so i've been curious about the temps of my 980 Ti for a bit now. I've tried playing both BF1 & Titanfall 2 recently at max settings w/ a 1440p monitor and it seems the card hovers around 83c-84c and will throttle at that temp since that's what the sensor is set to drop at. I have set an aggressive fan profile where the fan speed kicks into 100% around 75c and it doesn't help. I've both overclocked it and left it standard and no matter what I do, the temperatures won't drop. I'm suspecting it should be running hotter but since its throttling at 83c it manages to stay right there, which worries me because I do get perfomance loss when it shoots down to 700mhz. Anyone ever hear of this before?

900 cards have been known to start to throttle at as low as 60c

another zotac ? this guys amp extreme looks to go 68c ? but you see where he's at ?

this guy got fan issues ?

to me like I say seems zotac pushed there cards a bit too much to try to out do everybody ? looks like a year is what you get out of them ??

maybe bad fans ? bad sensor ? bad card ?

also maybe the thermal paste used got bad from being used from heating up and cooling down ? un used open thermal paste does / can have a shelve life if not used ...

I have two intake fans on the front of the case and one exhaust fan on the back, I'm using the Corsair 760T if I remember correctly!

The card was purchased in August of 2015 and has been rarely touched. After building my PC i ended up dorming at a university so the PC was basically by itself for the entirety of the year. Now that i'm home, i'm able to use it more. It hasn't been taxed very heavily or anything like that, so I honestly cannot remember if it was always like this or not. I do in fact remember though, when I was overclocking it awhile back that I specifically made sure the temps were around 76-79 degrees.

I'd definitely be down to change out the thermal paste if ZOTAC wouldn't void the warranty if you tamper w/ the card in anyway, which means i'm currently having to email them and follow the procedure and checklist they give me to troubleshoot it...
