System: HP Pro running Windows 7
I tried multiple keyboards and USB ports.
System works fine except for the keyboard locks up after first key press. Then keyboard freezes even cap and num lock don't work. Any lights stay on and keyboard is still listed under device manager. I tried reinstalling the drivers. Nothing but back stepping makes any difference.
Back step temporarily fixes.
I thought that it was a Windows update for its updater. Even if set not to auto update it still installs. Windows update agent 7.6.7600.320 so I bypassed to 7.6.7601.??? Keyboard still working. Did 10 more up dates as a test. Keyboard failed same story.
Any ideas?
Reply 1 @Chaoticwolf: Tried 2 keyboards one working fine on different computer. Since back stepping temporarily negated the problem I doubt it is hardware related.
Note: I am a professional computer technician that is asking for help. I have years of experience and have never seen this problem before.
