I have already tried to contact ASUS, but still waiting for a reply.
Hi guys

My new Asus Z10PE-D16 WS will not post

My config is:

M/B ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS
CPU 2 X Intel Xeon E5-2630 V4(2.20GHz,85W,L3:25M,10C,HT)
RAM 4 X 8GB : Crucial CT4K8G4DFD8213 DDR4-2133 DIMM CL15 Quad Kit. The RAM is non ECC and placed on the designated Dimm slots.
PCI express gpu that definitely works.

Q-Code LED Stops at b1, which based on the manual is "runtime set virtual address map end"

Any ideas?

Solution
I suggest, if possible, testing a registered RAM module (one that you can return, in case of not solving the issue), to rule out a memory issue.

Tried it with one cpu and no ram. Also boths cpus and no ram

Now, in both cases it stops at b0 and I can hear 1 long and 2 short beeps.

b0 stands for "runtime set virtual address map begin"

Tried all combinations. When RAM is present the LED Monitor code is b1.

Yes, I am afraid I made a huge mistake and that this board is only compatible with ECC memory.

Hi,

Did you find a solution?

I have exactly the same issue, same behavior in all cases.

MB: ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS
CPU: 1x Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 (2.10GHz, 85W, 8 cores, 20MB cache)
RAM: 2x KINGSTON HX421C14FB/8 8GB DDR4 2133MHZ HYPERX FURY (again, non-ECC)
GPU: 1x PCI express that again, definitely works
SSD: 1x Samsung 960 EVO M .2 PCIe NVMe 500GB

The RAM (and GPU) is from a previous machine. I am planning to get ECC RAM but I would go for 2x 32GB and the prices are high at the moment, plus I wanted to test the system first. The motherboard specs and manual do not say that it doesn't support non-ECC memory; in fact, they don't say anything about ECC (just a BIOS option to enable/disable ECC).

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/549000-non-ecc-memory-on-asus-z10pe-d8-ws/ says that the motherboard definitely needs ECC registered.

But http://www.overclock.net/t/1568616/official-asus-z10pe-d8-ws-owners-thread/150 says that non-ECC works fine (though one user still gets a B1 QCode).

Thanks

Your mobo, which is the same as mine, definitely needs not only ECC ram but ECC ram that is in Asus's certified ram list on their site... here. Just to be 100% positive.

Thanks.

In the meantime, I have obtained ECC registered memory and a second CPU. The system still does not POST and the Q-Code now is b7. I have posted a new question with my updated configuration.

I have also contacted Asus support, sending them photos of the RAM chips. Although it's two modules of the same model which is included in the Memory QVL (KINGSTON KVR21R15D4/32), it turns out one of the two modules has a different, not officially supported set of chips. This is assembled in China, while the supported one in Korea. Both from the same seller (!!!)

Anyhow, since the system is failing with single CPU and the supported RAM module (nothing else connected, updated BIOS), Asus now recommends that I contact the seller to arrange for pickup, diagnosis and replacement of the board in case of hardware error. This is really frustrating.
