It isn't a bad GPU, but it isn't really a "powerful" one. I wouldn't consider it "future proof" at all. It is going to be best suited for 720p or 1080p gaming and probably looking at upper mid settings. If you want "future proof" you would need to look at the GTX 1070 or 1080 and those are not cheap GPUs. If you want your GPU to last a couple years (tops) I would go with the GTX 1060 6gb. Yes it is more expensive, but I think it'll last you longer than a 1050ti.

Be aware that this question can never be answered w/o knowing monitor resolution. But for 1080p, answer in graph below

"future proof" is unattainable.... kinda like "dating a pretty girl that is low maintenance" ... wife was standing behind me so couldn't resist, and yes I took a punch for that one :)

GTX 1060 ftw but 3gb would be plenty especially when 1050ti is on affordable level. However 6gb variant is a lil bit expensive.

I said the 6gb because it is more powerful, they trimmed down the 3gb, plus he was talking about "future proofing" which I know is impossible, but the 1060 6gb is much more future proof than the 1050ti.

To be honest 6gb 1060 would be helpful but i think we shouuld wait for him to reply and tell us his budget and then decision will be made.

Won't recommend rx 480 4gb variant because of drivers instability and a lot of hurdles especially if you check forums for yourself a ton of threads created and can be easily googled. However in this instance neat and smooth work done is required, and would myself, recommend nvidia to escape from this hurdles.

Good. However JackNAylor has a good opinion on this matter.IF you also want some 'future proofing' too in upcoming instances. For now, gtx 1050ti would be enough.

'k' would be a good choice for overclocking purposes however it,then requires more power resulting in lowering your cpu warranty aka avoiding warranty reducing life span of cpu however today's skylake architrecture is much improved than previous cpu models.
Buy 'k' variant if affordable maybe in near future you might need it :) otherweise stock non 'k' would be no problem.

They 1060 3GB (7% slower than 6GB) runs neck and neck with the 480 8GB. My guess is there's a similar drop down to the 4Gb 480.

But you might want to add another case fan (possibly 50-100 watt bigger PSU) for the 480 as it runs a lil hotter

MSI Gaming X 480 pulls 196 watts typical gaming

MSI Gaming X 3GB pulls about 118 watts

To my eyes for $20, it's the [proverbial no brainer ...and if ta watch the sales ... for example 2 weeks back Microcenter had the 6600k cheaper than the 6500 in MoBo combo. Even if you don't wanna OC now, you can do it later... and if ya ever decide to sell the system, you'll get $100 more of a k equipped system. This assumes OFC that you have an appropriately equipped MoBo.
