I have an old, Asus p2b d2 motherboard, which is (believe it, or not) still operational!
The manual states, that, it is compatible for BOTH EEC, and non-ECC, sdram dimm chips.
How is that possible?
Aren't the notches, on the chips, in slightly different locations?

Finally, if the above board will accept EEC chips...
Does anyone manufacture 1gig chips?
I think that was the maximum size, I saw advertised, at one time... but, I have no idea (remember) who supplied them!

Solution
The ASUS P2B-D2 Motherboard supports 4 x 256 MB max. Single 1 GB Memory is not supported.

Supports Non-ECC and ECC. Yes, chips and density differ, but notches and physical dimensions are same.

Single 1 GB of the specs required for your motherboard is not manufactured anymore.
