I am looking at purchasing ddr4 for a system I am assembling. I am planning to overclock the ram. Which speed of ram do I get? The mobo base is 2133 but can go to 3000 in oc. Do I buy the 2133 and push it to 3000 or do I get the 3000?

The Sabertooth is kind of a 'special' board for Asus - hey try and position it as a workstation type mobo (and have forever) so in spec advertising the they limit what what they say about DRAM so as to not try and confuse it with an 'Enthusiast' mobo. The 1155 and 1150 mobos they adverised up to 1866 (Same with AMD) yest hose all ran fine with much faster DRAM and this board is no different - believe last I looked in the QVL for it they had tested and approved DRAM up through 3400 or better

2133 will seldom OC to 3000 without large increases in timings which will degenerate the performance. What mobo and CPU will you be running, many won't even run 3000. The CPU, specifically the MC (memory controller) in the CPU is the true defining factor with the mobo secondary

I am considering the Asus z170 deluxe or the sabertooth mark 1. I know that the sabertooth only goes to 2400 but the deluxe also has my attention because of the potential in increased ram speed. I'm looking for faster ram for photo shop.
