So, I am considering getting the i5 6600k instead of the i7 6700k due to price. The i5 6600k is cheaper but is it still a good CPU to run games like Grand Theft Auto 5 on ultra, or other games like Battlefield 1, Civ VI, Total War, etc without any issues? I will just upgrade next spring or something, its just the i5 6600k can save me $100 right now. Will I see any performance issues like a lower frame rate? Any help on what is different would be great, thanks!

CPU: i5 or i7
Motherboard: Asus Z170-A
Graphics card: EVGA GTX 1070 Superclocked

Solution
Yes you will see lower fps mostly due to the 500Mhz lower clock on the 6600k. Now you could get a cheap heatsink to make up the difference. This heatsink for example should get your 6600k to 4Ghz.

Or if you want to get a bit over 4Ghz this one should get you about 4.2Ghz.

Frankly I think you might be better off with an i7 6700 + B150 motherboard vs i5 6600K + Z170 + aftermarket cooler, and they should cost about the same. Of course, if you really enjoy overclocking as a hobby, the i5 has reasons beyond pure performance as a choice.
