Can I 2-way SLI in PCIe slots 2 & 4 on the Asus ROG Rampage V edition 10 x99 motherboard?

Hi there, and thank you for any insight.

I'm having trouble determining if I will be able to install my dual GTX 1080 STRIX (via 2-way SLI) on my motherboard. The issue is that my RAM has a cooler unit (Vengance Airflow) attaches via clips overtop the DIMM latches (sorry if this is the incorrect term). Having the coolers attached however renders the PCI slot directly below the RAM useless as the edge of the coolers covers the slot by about half it's width. Would be happy to post a photo of it but I don't seem to have the option to do so in this initial post.

I'm not able to find anything online giving my a definitive answer on if I am able to run 2-way SLI on PCIe ports 2 & 4 as opposed to ports 1 & 3. All four slots are listed as PCIe 3.0 x16 which makes me think this shouldn't be an issue - but to put it frankly I dont' feel adequate in my knowledge to feel confident in assuming a port 2 & 4 2-way SLI would work.

My specs:
Motherboard - Asus ROG Rampage V Edition 10 x99
CPU - Intel i7 6850k
RAM - 128 GB DDR4 - 3000
x2 - Asus GTX 1080 STRIX

Thank you all for taking the time to help me out here.

You can use either or. The top x16 slots, or the bottom.

"4 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots (supports x16, x16/x16, x16/x8/x8, x16/x8/x8/x8 or x8/x8/x8/x8 mode with 40-LANE CPU; x16, x16/x8 or x8/x8/x8 mode with 28-LANE CPU)* [CPU]"

Also $570 for that x99 motherboard. Hot damn!

Thank you for being first (and quick at that) at responding. While I am inclined to believe you - another user pointed out that in my user manual it does clearly state I should be using Slots 1 & 3 for 2-way SLI configuration - and so I must give him the coveted "solved" status. Thank you again very much for responding!
