Hello, I finished getting all the parts and built my computer yesterday. The only problem I have is that the HDD is making a lot of noise and I don't know whats causing it. The noises it's making sound like its grinding and scratching.

HDD are not silent by any means but that did seem a little loud for what i am assuming was a case closed situation (lmk on that btw cause if the case is open that's not super loud). It is possible you got a defective/damaged en-route drive. In my experience when a drive goes bad you get a similar sound followed by a series of clicks, then it repeats a few times and either doesn't work...or does for a bit then dies soon after the sounds start (anywhere from days to months). Have you run any benchmarks on the drive to see if the read and writes are abnormally slow? also after running some benchmarks like Diskmark64 you could try filling the drive formatting and filling it up again a few times to see if it fails. Or if your that worried you could just return it. What is the drive make and model btw? My guess is you got a bunk drive...

Its a drive that has been pulled out of another system and was sold to me. The drive has a 12 month warrenty on it so I'll ask for a new drive. The drive is a Hitachi Ultrastar A7K200 2TB. The drive had decent reviews so I though it would be fine, whats your opinions?
