So for my spec it is a i7 6700k (Base Clock 4.0Ghz), a asus maximus hero vIII mb and i have 16gb of corsair ddr4 2132 ram. I have been looking at some of the g.skill TridentZ Series here http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820231916 i was wondering if i can currntly oc my current ram or if i should get this new ram. I have tried to oc my dram frequencies in the bios but for some reason it says the frequencies in the bios but in cpu-z it says only 1138mhz when i set it to a oc of only 2300 ish.

Solution
Don't try to OC your current RAM, as it is rated at the highest stable speed generally and can be hit and miss.
And all the same, RAM frequency barely results in any performance difference unless you're rendering, don't worry about it!

CPU-Z says it's 1138 but this is DDR (Double Data Rate) after all. You should take that number and multiply it by 2.

Ram OC is pointless in most cases. You won't see any real world benefit. As long as everything is stable, you don't need to mess with it

Best bet willbe new DRAM, about the best you'll get off basic 2133 sticks is 2400, the sweetspot for DRAM (price to performance) is 3200 right now. (and might take a OC of your CPU to run full 3200. If no plans to OC would go 2800 or 2666 in 2x8GB
