Hi all,

After some initial problems loading Windows 10 onto my new build, I decided to have a go just getting my old HDD into it and loading up with it's version of Windows XP from when it was in my old Dell Dimension E521.

When I boot from that drive, it looks like it's loading up nicely, the blue sccreen is there and the white "welcome" is displayed but then it halts with the message:

Windows Product Advication
This Copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?

There is a Yes and No option, however the mouse doesn't operate, and I can't move between the yes or no using the arrow keys.

The drives are making a lot of noise and the light is flashing on and off to show there is something going on for maybe a minute or so. Then the noise and light stop and nothing happens.

Am I supposed to do something with XP in my old system to enable it being transferred over onto this new machine?

You cant move an OS(especially older one like xp) from one system to another and expect them to work. Im surprised it didnt just boot to a bsod. Youd be better off trying to solve the win 10 install issue. What m.2 drive are you using? Because if its nvme thats likely your problem as im fairly sure your motherboard doesnt support booting to nvme drives.
