Most questions of this type focus on the speed of the transfer. What I am looking for is the best METHOD.

I am replacing two internal drives with one larger one. All I have on these drives is data storage.

What is the best method for transferring the files?

1. Just selecting all the folders and dragging them over to the new drive?

2. Selecting a portion of the folders and dragging them over? If a problem occurs during the transfer this might minimize the losses.

3. Copying one folder at a time?

4. Use a DOS command to do the copy?

5. Use some hard drive management software?

6. Other?

Thanks for the insight.

a simple copy and paste is the easiest way to do it. you can do it in chunks if you wish but so long as you only copy and paste and not cut and paste, then there should be no concern of lost data.

no need to bring 3rd party software into the mix for such a simple task :)
